I feel moving VISA dates, EAD renewal and $$$ is linked.
By moving spillover till last quater..many (2007 filers**) are due for EAD renewal
If they had moved the dates, guys would have got GC and USCIS lose income from EAD and AP

Years we have been told priority date establishes your place in the queue.
We have spurned job offers and declined the new PERM process to hold on to the priority dates.
Many are still awaiting labor certifications from the backlog elimination centers. Out comes USCIS and says everyone with a LC can file I140 & I485.
People still waiting for LC with priority dates in 2003-2004 are seeing applicants who have priority dates as late as 2007 but with approved LCs through PERM walk through to I485.
Net result, USCIS is going to be flooded with applicants enough to retrogress the priority dates 3-4 years back as early as september. (Everybody with a LC will be able to file for I485 in July). So applicants with priority dates of 2007 are going to get EAD and GC, while LC backlogged 2003 applicants to have to wait for another 3-4 years before they can even file I485.

Most of my colleagues on L1/H1 visas went back upon completion of their 5/6 year terms, they never applied for GC. Couple of them are right now packing back.
The management of the company (not IT related) bravely decided to replace the "aliens" by american engineers. This proud decision had a disaterous consequence - our international based customers pulled back and found other contractors. Despite of all the money pumped to promote the "american" presence in the company, down-sizing is on its way and closure is on the horizon...
I was stupid enough to decide in 2003 to apply for a GC and to bear all this BS. Now working hard on plan B and waiting for the right moment.

In light of nyte-crawler's post above on the conference process, the Pence proposal seems to be debated in GOP circles. If the conference is annouced, we'll see something like the Mike Pence plan emerge. That is why Border hawks like Tancredo vehemently oppose this...

I received my AP renewed document 2 days ago, but there is no email or status update relating to it as of today. I am waiting for my EAD and My wife�s AP/EAD approval. I wish my I-485 is approved like this. I posted this earlier in another thread but I don�t see it any more, thought I would share my experience here.
Did any one had similar experience like this. Approved and received doc/card but no email or LUD or online status change?
I also wanted to know how to start a new thread? In case I want to start a new for another crazy stuff.

The packet was just asking me to confirm my address, and my soliciters address and details. They sent a copy to me, my soliciter, and my employer.
was mailed to me on the 18th of april.
on the cover letter, it said i had been sent these because my PD was about to become current, and or a visa number would be available for me within the next 3- 6 months.
My take on the Mumbi consulate, VB, is just wait and see. It says most other countries, not ROW...and to be honest, i am not guna belive anything untill i see it on the state dept web site. in the full VB which should be out next week.
Im consular processing, im not even on the USA yet, i have had my job held open for the last 2 years.
i carnt see row moving forward that much but i think it will move a little. i dont think it will move back.

I had observed this last summer also that most of the CPO emails are received at night. In my opinion, it is probably due to the fact that they run these external communications as batch jobs at night, which is usually the case in any high volume corporate type IT systems.

I gurantee monthly contributions. But, sorry, don't trust the automated & recurring transfers. I can sense there maybe other people with the same thought.
Instead of a target number of recurring contributors, can you publish target monthly contributions (e.g. $XK target for Jan & $YK target for Feb and so on). It will be easier for us to gauge the shortage.
Any insight into the distribution of spend (bet. lobbyists, admin etc) would be very useful too.

Chaya, We are going back to India on personal choice. My manager here knows very clearly that I cannot take up promotions and the HR does not want to do eb3-->eb2 conversion. So, I took up this crap for a while, and decided to put an end to this misery once and for all. And fortunately the same company is offering me a job in India at a good designation with good compensation. Also, we were missing out (esp my kids) were missing out lot of things happening in India, which they want to be a part of. Original idea was to stay in US for 10 years and go, only difference is now, we did spend that 10 years but still dont have our GC. Another important thing that we considered was , it becomes more difficult to take this decision when we have GC in hand because, as much as it helps to stay in US, it avoids us from leaving US too, and to wait for citizenship is another 5 years from that point, which could all take easily 6 years to the minimum from today. Thats why we wanted to make it easy on us, and do this now.
Looking back, would I re-do this GC process one more time - no, but am I happy to be a part of IV - you bet I am. Thats the bottom line.
Me and husband will attend and also contribute. Will wait to register until get approval for time off from job. Any one going to DC from Baltimore can contact me so we can arrange car pool.

Hi folks, just as predicted, my email thread to select contacts resulted in one outright racist response. i dont want this group to get distracted or distressed if you too get such responses. take a look at the original note below and my response. remain brave. remain strong. this is a LEGAL immigration process in the US economic interest too.
hopefully people will begin to realize that anti-legal-immigration is just a facade for deep rooted racism.

I have to let you know that not only will I not support this bill, but I am vehemently against the legal immigration of workers that are originally brought here to usurp positions that would have otherwise been held by skilled Americans. I agree that this is a racist and exclusionary position, but I also know many people who can no longer get work at the level they deserve due to the displacement they have experienced as a result of this foreign worker influx.
Please remove me from any future posts regarding this or related issues.

i know how the native americans must have felt when the pilgrims landed... oh that darned foreign influx.
i will not dignify your self avowed racism with the erudition of economics, capitalism, innovation, globalization, human rights or the rich history of the united states as a melting pot of cultures ... all of which are underpinning factors that are in the long term US economic interests in high skilled LEGAL immigration. of course, these tend to be conveniently ignored on the altar of superficial sentiment, myopic protectionism and deep-rooted xenophobia.
it would be best that we not be on each others' personal contacts or have any future interaction at all.
hopefully people will begin to realize that anti-legal-immigration is just a facade for deep rooted racism.

It will be a fallacy to think anything will be done for legal immigrants because Republicans will take over the house. ....
(I am not talking about CIR. I think it is a given that CIR is not going anywhere in the near future). But, I am an optimist!

Well his bills were mainly an attempt to stem H1b visa abuse. Maybe there is too much overkill, but look at his point of view. What would you do if you suddenly felt 10s of 1000s were misusing the H1b visa and entering the country. We also need to talk to them more and convey our position clearly, irrespective of party.
one necessary part of getting GC relief, is to help them in avoiding abuse of work visas, which will ruin our reputation and make the visa abusers semi-illegal.
There are issues like impractical time for H1 transfer that need to be fixed. 1-2 weeks to find a job is impossible most of the time.
I also edited my first post with much better statistics and new things I learnt in this debate, which will help newbies.
