GC wait is a slow poison. everytime you compromise on the career front you console yourself saying it is a small thing, but when you look at it in hindsight you can see how this process chokes your career slowly. well we should think about those less fortunate than us and move on.....

I thought i was the oldest, but someone got a GC this week after 16 yrs wait. my first attempt was in 1998 sept (never filed and sat in the lawyers office for 6 months) while i was working hard. Second went into NY DOL (2001) and after 4 yrs my company shut down - labor was in backlog center. Last attempt started in 2005. Aug 11th it will be 15 yrs. Not sure what i am doing here or why i am clinging on to this. Hanging in the same field, no growth and no enthu. Most of my friends put up their citizenship oath taking pics in facebook or are back in india

we waited so long, hang in there for a few more days. hope all will be fine.

Please update your profile with details so that it can be helpful to everyone tracking the success
    http://immigrationvoice.org/forum/profile.php?do=editprofile

    on IV tracker
    http://immigrationvoice.org/index.php?option=com_tracker&Itemid=63

IV members are requested to update their profile with valid dates so that we can make IV tracker helpful for everyone.

I have personally decided to make this request to everyone who does not have their details completed and only then respond to the member. If a member has bogus data in their profile for tracking purposes I would not be replying to that post. This might help encourage members wanting replies from IV core team for their questions.

Thanks, and i have. But there seems to be bugs in the tracker. For eg the filtering doesn seem to work and the page looks broken  Would it be possible that these are fixed soon ? Great idea by the way.

    coopheal ,
I have been contributing. Even for the latest Capitol Hill effort I did call my friends and they did contribute. I have the numbers. I myself contributed 100$. I would have spent at least 8 hours making calls and making my friends contribute $. I never gave up on that. But still I do not get enough motivation to keep this doing. I have collected around 200$ at my work for meeting the lawmakers effort but returned the money to individuals. I am sure it would have ended up helping EB2.

    reddymjm,

I participated in IV lobby day. Myself along with other IV members presented the talking points to lawmakers. One thing I can say for sure is those materials didn't have a single line for EB2 alone. IV's strategy is to strive for common solutions which would benefit every one.

    ok now we have 300!

Precisely, members underestimate the importance of meeting lawmakers in a large scale. When we meet members of Senate and congress all over the country, not only can we get a new Bill, but our provisions could also get attached to any other Bills once they morally support us. But it will not happen if you just send chain mail, its all about building human relations with the law maker staff and make them aware of our problems. That is why family based visas and illegals, kids (DREAM) get ahead as they have the human factor apparent.
With law makers its all about human values, empathy, compassion, etc. - like family, kids. You can forget everything about rocket science, recursion, curve fitting - it doesn't mean anything to them in terms of getting their support. It is difficult for a technical person to understand this and their point of view. It would help to get your extended family involved if you have one.
Even today skill based immigration is not even at the forefront of population growth, as their idea about general population is a bit different and has nothing to do with IQ. that is why extra effort is needed from us.
There has to be a continuous relation maintained with the immigration rep of the law maker.
    I have a question,
Could you please provide how to get in touch with these political people and how to get their time and explain them? Do we get an appointment?
Also draft of letters to provide them as a refrence?
An Agenda when we visit them?
If you could please provide these guidelines, we will know what all needs to be done and anybody interested would do it.

It is very clear that USCIS is yet to complete the receipt of all I-485 applications and are not in a position to give any statistics to DOL. I think then they will be busy in issuing AP / EAD based on the receipt. Considering the current work load, I think it will take at least couple of months for the USCIS to give any reasonable estimate to DOL regarding the actual demand. Till that time, I think DOL will be forced to publish the same status every month. :(

I wish USCIS can use the people worked in Backlog Elimination centers to issue EAD / AP and clear I-485 receipts and provide some meaningful figures to DOL. [I hope they do not create another July bulletin fiasco :D]

One small correction,it is DOS instead of DOL.

logiclife, i like this one "And now suddenly USCIS is acting like an undocumented worker ignoring the laws and regulations" :) :)

So basically USCIS is in violation of regula
tion for not accepting 485 petitions for EB3-other worker category even though those petitions are current as per June Bulletin issued in May.

I hope USCIS atleast follows the regulations and laws. Coz we just finished with an 18 month debate in the Senate today on law-abiding done by immigrants. And now suddenly USCIS is acting like an undocumented worker ignoring the laws and regulations.

When every one send individual letter, they will read the first one and then will just ignore others. Because the content and issue is same. When we 50+ people send one neatly drafted letter...I am sure it will draw considerable attention. Ron is willing to help us. I am not sure if we need to hire him for this. If so, how many of you ready to share the expense.

Since this topic is already being discussed....

I live in Illinois and have to renew my passport at Chicago consulate. My original passport was issued for 5 years only so as per the website, I need to file for "Renewal of short validity passport".
    http://chicago.indianconsulate.com/Passpins.html#Renewal__of_Short_Validity_Passport_

But when I click on the link (under download form) itt actually open the "Misc service" form. http://chicago.indianconsulate.com/pdfforms050703.htm

Does anyone know which form to use?

    Thanks

I can't tell you how p***d I was when I read someone suggesting ppl to "enjoy the moment". For someone who has been waiting 3-4 years for labor to clear and sees ppl getting in front of the line to get the EAD/AP, its just insane. And to tell that person to be not a "spoilsport" is just rubbing salt in their wounds!

To my friends who are still stuck in PBEC, please have faith. You will hopefully be able to file 485 even after Sept when the dates retrogress again. My gut feeling is that dates will retrogress back to 2004 again. 2005 is when PERM started and that's where the bulk of applicants will come from right now. PERM filers will get the advantage of AC21 that you didn't have for all these years but plight of ppl stuck in BEC's has never been on anyone's agenda. So not much you can do.

In this process everyone gets screwed onetime or other . Everyone knows that dates will move back but the advantage of filing now is the applications enter into preprocessing stage after 10 months or whatever.

People should look at anywhere between 3 to 10 years depending on priority date to get GC.

My attorney sent an email inquiry to DOL regarding my case. Within less than 12 hours a response was received -

It sounds like a pre-written text that goes to every inquiry they get.

Thanks for sharing your experience, I dont buy into their FIFO process. May be its applicable in the Non-Audit cases but cases that get audited are just being piled up at someone's desk and that person is most likely dead (does not exist)
