How many IVians hit the gym and treadmills at least 2 to 3 times week. Imagine, if you could continue to maintain your fitness goals, but at the same time your efforts can raise nominal funds like $300 or $500 for IV, now wouldn't that be something to be proud of?

It takes 45 mins to walk a 5K, your friends and family could possible support you by making donation on your behalf for IV. So it is a win win situation, maintain fitness goals, and raise money for IV.

Can we get the 20th member to sign up today? Remember the 20th member gets $20!!

How much clout does this congresswoman have? She seems to understand the entire scenario better than any american soul out there! It also seems like she has spent a lot of time on this and understands the system very well.

I guess it remains to be seen what kind of impact her letter will have on USCIS. Obviously, USCIS did something unlawful.

She understands it better because look at her biography:
    http://lofgren.house.gov/biography.shtml

    Professional Career

    Served as Staff Assistant to her predecessor, Congressman Don Edwards, 1970-1978;
Worked on impeachment proceedings, the Equal Rights Amendment, and creation of the Don Edwards National Wildlife Refuge in the South San Francisco Bay
Practiced immigration law as a partner in the firm of Webber & Lofgren, 1978-1980
Taught immigration law at University of Santa Clara School of Law, 1977-1980
Served on Santa Clara County Board of Supervisors, 1981-1994
    U.S. Congress

Elected in 1994 as only freshman Democrat from west of the Rocky Mountains
Serves on Committee on the Judiciary:
Chair of Subcommittee on Immigration, Citizenship, Refugees, Border Security and International Law
    Subcommittee on Administrative Law
Serves on Committee on Homeland Security: Subcommittee on Emerging Threats, Cybersecurity, and Science and Technology
Subcommittee on Border, Maritime and Global Counterterrorism
Serves on Committee on House Administration
    Chair of Subcommittee on Elections
Serves as Chair of the 34 Member California Democratic Congressional Delegation

Couldn't resist. Please follow the FOIA thread that is in red.
10,000 was collected and 2500$ advance was sent out to USCIS. Now we wait to hear back from them.

may be USCIS will now issue bulletins every month for the next 5 years to tell us when we can expect that report.:eek:

I am actually very dissappointed with myself. In the post rally MC fluster, I had made a mental note to introduce Logiclife and then give him a flower. But I hear he strongly opposes measures such as this :)

I had also promised to get Macaca on the stage and write with colorful Sharpies on his forehead.

Its probably best I forgot both...

Yes, Logiclife is a bit touchy about the flower issue. But its all good

I know your pain, Iam in the same boat, submitted everything on 06/26, hopefully everything will be filed after july 4th.

I have submitted all the documents to my laywer on 6/25 itself (including medical) but they are just heavily back logged and won't be filing my case till Jul 10. I am just frustated now. I even offered to pay extra to speed it up but no use. I am only worried if dates retrogress half way through?

To my real question.. Can we just file on our own with out the lawyer? I would hate to loose this window just coz my laywer couldn't do it. Not sure how I would break that kinda news to my wife, "I know the dates were current for 10 days in July but our lawyer didn't have time so now you will have to stay at home for 1 more year".

    GCKarma,

How do u know that CIR is dead..? I could not any information on the link provided.

I do not know any thing like this where people on H1 (I am not forgetting L1s and others .. :) ) have come together and voiced a request to hear our problem and reduce retrogression.

I wish this goes forward .. Plan B, I think SKILL BILL (?) must be put in to thought.

Yes I read It wont come to a debate until the current one is resolved. I also read , the effort will continue until this problem is looked in to and helped.

CIR may not be completely over ... but discussing Plan B would be good.

    Hi All,
Applying for I485 soon. My Moms name is misspelt in my Birth Certificate. Do they cross verify parents name in birth certificate with the names in my passport. If so, please do advice on what I should do?

    Thanks

Here is Ron's reply for the questions/concern

    Hi Ron,

Tons of thanks for your time and this letter. Though most of the case are pending with Atlanta, there are few people struck with chicago as well. But the number is very small compared to atlanta. This template sounds very good to me, I will post the same at IV and let you know the feed back. Also I will direct the folks struck in chicago to you, they can hire you if they want you to represent them or I will ask them how do they want to proceed.

If we give the case number and employer name, would there be any impact/side effect ?

I will keep you posted and thanks a lot for your time

    ===========================

    Reply from Ron:

All of the Chicago cases have been transferred to Atlanta. If the Chicago guys want to talk to me, Im happy to do so. They dont have to hire me if all they want is information. As for putting names and case numbers, without that information, they wont take the letter seriously. Also, I think that this will get the DOL to move on those cases. Almost every time I have made a specific complaint, they have responded by resolving the case right away in order to make the whole thing go away. It wouldnt surprise me to see the same thing here.

I just called all the offices mentioned.

Almost all of them seemed to know what I'm talking about and couple of the offices actually said they have been receiving numerous calls asking the congressman/congresswoman to support these bills and some of them knew the bill number even before i could mention them...so looks like we are getting our point across loud and clear....

    Keep those calls going through

    Dear All,

While we are really thankful to all the Pundits who spend their valuable time and energy to work on the number game, we should all realize one basic fact which will affect all of us :

Both EB2 and EB3 will very soon (may be 1 or 2 years) get totally jammed. This is not very difficult to realize this bitter truth.

This can be attributed to :

    1. Very high porting India / ROW (which is legal and I have nothing against it. No offense please)
    2. Increased ROW filing under EB2 category
    3. Increased EB1 filing by Indian IT companies (Programmers and many with basic degrees who would only qualify for EB3 or at the most EB2)

It is hence a matter of time, when lightning will strike both EB2 and EB3. It is high time that all of us understand this basic mathematics and start working together. Contributing and attending the advocacy is a step in the right direction.

    Note:

During one of my recent visits to the Congressman's office I was told that INS is now aware of the fraudulent EB1 filing by Indian IT companies. This process is being scrutinized more carefully, now. Infact, I was told that several letters have been received in the Congressman's office about this. The Congressman's office have also contacted the INS and spoken them about this. The Immigration aide also told me that to impose stricter scrutiny and punitive action, people like us, must flood the offices of the law makers' office with thousands of letters, exposing this fraud. Nothing has a better impact than signed letters sent by post (not Email). I once again plead with all members to meet law makers and send several thousand letters on this. Spending 45 mins on a letter (typing, printing, posting etc) may save 5 years of wait! Please think it over!!!

    GOD bless the EB Community!

What is? Working on the July submitted apps ahead of the ones already in the queue?

no no. working on them meaning issue us a receipt (so we can use AC21) and give us an EAD (so our spouses can work) and an AP (so we can travel). We will then patiently wait in line behind all those folks who submitted I-485s before us and have PDs earlier than ours.
