Apple should rip out all there roofing at there HQ and replace it with Solar Panels and replace the heating systems with CHRP systems.

I was thinking of buying an iPod Shuffle for my niece for Xmas but she'll be getting something else instead. My MacBook purchase is on hold as well.

Been wanting this for a while. I have a windows PC just doing nothing, if I can turn it into an Airport Express like device, can have music going throughout the house.
What's the point? The Airport Express is only $99 bucks, sometimes I've seen them on ebay or Craigslist for half that... The Airport Express uses only 6 watts of power.
What is your PC going to use? 300 watts? You'll spend that much on electricity after 6 months to a year.

Checked Checked and triple Checked 35.9meg video compared to the original 16.8meg for the video before. They just take a while to load into the iPods memory. H264 and great quality.

The real question that I haven't seen anyone ask, is will this be Intel only or will other chipsets/manufacturers support it as well.It appears to be Intel only for now and it is a rather large controller compared to USB 3.0 ones.
Intel gave many other vendors a field day for profits by not supporting USB 3.0 on their PCH. Though this did drive boards costs up and certain vendors preferred to wait for Intel to simply include support. To be honest, it only appears to be Apple.

Checked these out at the airport again last week and love them. Perfect timing for me, I swore I'd hold out for Lion (unless my 2007 MBP dies by then), looks like I'll reap extra benefits for my somewhat difficult patience!

I hesitated all year on the chance Apple would come out with a phone, but this week I went and bought a Nokia. Therefore, this announcement will obviously be a new Apple phone! Trust me, this stuff happens to me all the time... :rolleyes:

There are a lot of sound business reasons for Apple to release an iPhone. But the biggest reason is that Steve must have a cell phone and you know he probably hates the industrial design and functionality.
I think that they were supposed to announce this in one of the "one more things" on the 12th and something happened at the last minute. Two items lead me to this conclusion.
1. They never used a satellite link of the keynote to London(think Vodafone), which they mentioned before the keynote. Maybe it was just so London could watch. But then why not the folks at the Apple Expo in Paris.
2. Is it just me, or did the "pre-announcement" of a product that has an "internal" name of iTV, which may or may not be the products real name, strike anyone else as very un-Apple like.

I never said my actions were morally right. I'll admit that my actions are probably very immoral, and ethically wrong. The simple fact is I don't care about how people view my morality or ethics. Why should I care what people think of me. I never said it bothers me that you guys are not agreeing with me, all I said is that I find it laughable.
EDIT: @uscfgrad93 - No I won't ruin them, unless my 4.2 GPA, 36 ACT score, 2400 SAT score, and nearly 2500 hours of volunteer work over the past two years count as ruining them. Oh also add in both of my parents' alumni status with Harvard, and there donations every year;)

After releasing updates to every iPod product line at Tuesday's Showtime event he left a very big opening for a major product announcement between now and the holidays. Steve said "I hope this gives you a feeling for what we've got lined up for this holiday season."
Steve Jobs chooses his words very carefully. If Apple's holiday line-up was now complete - he would have said so emphatically.
That is exactly what I was thinking. I'm almost certain that Santa has got one more thing in his bag for Christmas.
1) Isn't Steve Jobs on record saying that a phone is the one thing that you don't have to convince a consumer to carry in their pocket? As in: "the future of the iPod is cell phone integration."
2) Anyone who listened to Apple's last quarter financial results call jumped when they got to talking about phones - they practically came out and said they were working on one, and trying to get it to market asap.
3) Apple has been consistently impeccable at timing products to hit the market at the right time (Macbooks for graduation/back to school, new ipod releases for fall/christmas). They know Christmas is the time to release this.
4) The buzz over this has been growing to deafening levels both from the analysts and the nerds.
Especially with Steve's allusion to "more to come before Christmas", I'm betting on shiny new iPhones for Christmas.

The interesting part is that Microsoft makes almost the same profit as Apple on far less revenue, but you never hear any outrage about Microsoft overpricing its products. :confused:

Yes, the Core Duo (Yonah) is a mobile chip. The Core 2 Duo equivalent is Merom.

So with those numbers, a 720p stream with 5.1 audio should easily stream over even a 10 mbit network device. So I can easily see this working over 802.11g.
Your numbers are good but you assume 10mbps is easy with 802.11g because they advertise '54mbps' on the box.
In practice, you see half of that max, right next to the access point, without protocol overhead.
By time you get half way across a typical house from Mac to TV, you're lucky to see 3-4mpbs. I've tried this using 5-600kbps codecs and current wireless just doesn't cut it outside the lab.
That kind of reduction ratio on 802.11n is going to be fine for h.264 streaming. Apple won't wait a whole 'nother year for the standards committees to get their act in gear. When the chipset manufacturers are certain the shipping silicon will handle the release spec, Apple will release a pre-n unit. The stuff that was on the shelves last year probably is going to wind up not being upgradeable to the standard, due to silicon changes, so they were wise to wait. The timing is right.

if samsung stops providing displays to apple, it would be the best thing ever..NO MORE YELLOW TINT ISSUES!!!
yellow tinted displays are from LG i believe. in fact i don't think samsung supplies displays for iphone/ipad/

why are they mad about getting kicked out. I'm not to favorable of enviromentalists, but I'll admit they're good cause if it weren't for them we probably would screw up alot of stuff, they keep it evened out, but still they're at a computer convention they should be greatful they were even allowed to have a booth at all, they should have abided by the contract.
