Apple needs to cut the prices on ipod nano. 149 dollars for 8GB ipod nano is ridiculous. Everyone is gonna go for ipod touch or iPhone.

With that being said, I am a little bit surprised about ipad sales. But, it will continue to do well. Momentum doesn't stop.

My MBA is fine, and that certainly doesn't look right. It's still under warranty, so I'd take it into a store or contact customer services

I bought this BTO MacBook Air online and I'm using it everyday. I think it will take time for time replace the keyboard to me. Another thing is... This baby don't have a removable hard drive, it will give me a hard time for transfering files... :(

You need to add Joe Smith to your address book and then you will be able to pull him up by name. What it's doing now is pulling up previously used email addresses. You can right click on the email address in the "To:" field and add to address book.

I tried using iCal when I first switched over in '06. I integrated my Google calendar with it, but stopped using it because I often access my calendar in places other than my home computer. So I stuck with Google calendar and its "cloud" capabilities.

I know I can get MobileMe to access my iCal anywhere, but I rather not pay for a service when there's free (though shoddy like google cal) alternatives out there.

Two words for ya... Mobile Me. Sign up for the sixty day free trial, rumor has it that it's going to be free May 18 th or so. I use it for everything. Wednesday I left my company laptop at home, wasn't a big deal. All of my email accounts go through it, plus iDisk, iCal, and my address book were all accessible from another computer. I love how my iPad, iMac, and Winders laptop all stay in sync (to include bookmarks) effortlessly. Even if you don't get it free, retailers sell it at a discount.

I don't know anything about ATA passwords, but one of the expected new features of Lion is whole disk encryption. You might as well wait for that and get it free with the OS and supported by Apple.

I'm aware, but that is months away, and who knows how long it will take for this Filevault re-write to be stable. Since I'm operating as a consultant, I can't necessarily wait for that.

So... no one knows if this is possible?

I'm in in the same boat as you. My upgrade is in early May and I can't decide if I should get the iphone 4 or wait based off rumors...

but I think I'm just going to with the iphone 4, it already fits all my needs and I don't see what else apple could do for me in improvements for the next phone

Mine ended early March and I was going to wait till summer for the 5 but with all the speculation of it being delayed I went ahead and got the iPhone 4 a few weeks ago (Had a 3GS). I just didn't want to wait till June and then have to wait till September etc...

Get the Dropbox app but BE SURE to download their free desktop software too(Mac or PC) and set up a folder on your computer. The app is really only useful if you have that as well.

You really should search this site, there are many other past threads like this that will give you a ton of ideas. But until then, here's a bunch I like.

Dropbox (To sync with your Desktop Dropbox folder)
    iTorch4 (flashlight)
AwesomeNote (Can sync with Google Documents)
NewsRack (IF you use it to sign into a Google-Reader Account)
Files Pro (to copy files using USB through iTunes)
Apple's Remote (if you have an AppleTV)
Angry Birds (There are 3: orginal, seasons, or Rio)
Twitter/Linkendin/Facebook/Wordpress (Whatever you do, they probably have an app.)
    Harbor Master
Netflix or Hulu+ (if you subscribe to either)

One of the things I've always liked about higher res monitors is that my palettes and toolbars are very small. Thus I can fit more palettes on the screen at one time and not have them get in the way.

I hope resolution independence doesn't make my palettes huge, like they look on lower res monitors.

I don't know wy people are so worried about this. Everything will be exactly the same size that it currently is on your computer (1 to 1). The only difference will be that with Leopard and resolution independence you'll be able to scale certain elements larger or smaller. You don't have to scale the elements if you don't want to but the option will be there.

This is a good thing. Even a great thing. No more jaggies when enlarging fonts and other elements.

Put the Windows disk on the ICH (system's SATA ports), as the card cannot dual boot like that in a MP (been tried before and has never worked).

Other than the Windows disk, it will work.

Is this something specifically to do with the Areca 1880 series cards and the Mac Pro 2010 or does this ring true for all other 3rd party RAID controllers?

When you previously said this is because one does not have access to firmware/EFI settings and can't change the boot device I am wondering why this is required, wouldn't there be a loader\boot menu that one can bring up? How would I then select between the primary OSX install on SSD1/Areca and Win 7 on SSD2/ICH if there wasn't a boot menu? Or is it simply some kind of limitation that will not allow the Mac Pro to detect and display in the boot menu stage any drives attached to the Areca controller other than the one that was set as boot drive in OSX?

I installed Bodyguardz, both front and back.

It was pretty wet at install, I used many solution, but apperently not enough.
It was dripping and I had to clean my desk.

Most of the bubbles will dry up in a week. Some small ones will take a 2-3 weeks, but eventually they'll be gone.

My neighbors cousin died in the attack. Her boss (president of the company) took the day off (pretending to be sick). Everyone else in the company was at work, which was around 30 people. All of the people that worked there died except for the president. As you can imagine, the man is now an emotional wreck.

Another one one of my neighbors worked in the 2nd trade tower. He was on the 6x floor and started to leave when he saw the first plane crash. When he was leaving the 2nd tower got hit. He ran out to the bottom and escaped with a few other people in a UPS truck.

My brother-in-law was talking to a guy that worked on the 7x floor of the 1st tower that got hit on the phone. They were talking and then all of a sudden there was a big crash and the line went dead. The guy did not make it.

I could go on with a bunch of stories, I was practically there, but I'll stop. To sum it up it was horrific. Seeing the people running out of the building, some of them hurt, knowing there were many hundreds of people still inside, and a bunch of people on the two planes that hit.

Does your iMac have a CD-burner? Ejection is the normal behaviour of a CD-ROM-only drive when blank writable media is inserted.

As some of you will know, I switched to Macs last year with the purchase of my 12" PowerBook. Now I've finally got myself an iPod. It's a regular 4G iPod which was purchased before the iPod Photo was introduced, but I'm not bitter because I could never afford one of those beauties anyway.

Apart from a creaky old tape walkman that I had 10 years ago and hardly ever used, this is my first portable music player. I never really got with the whole MP3 thing until I decided to import all my music onto iTunes when I got my first Mac last year. I'm very pleased with the AAC format and now regular buy music from the iTunes Music Store too.

Now, my brother got a 3G 20GB iPod last year but I confess I never really spent much time with it (probably because I was too excited about my Mac and knew that I'd only want one for myself if I used it!). And now, in a sort of reciprocal promotion agreement with my brother (which this time sees him getting an iBook: my first person switched ;) ), I finally got my iPod.

    Packaging
Good old Apple quality with lovely tilting box approach. The box is essentially the same as my brother's 3G iPod box, other than it now has the brightly coloured shilouetted images of that iPod ad campaign all over the outer sleeve. Nice, and instantly recognisable as iPod.

    Contents
Ok, so I knew that I wouldn't be getting the dock with my model, but, as far as I know, the inclusion of the dock is the only difference between the 20 and 40GB models (other than the obvious price, capacity and slight size differences). It's a bit disappointing that I have to pay 30 to get the remote that came with my brother's 3G version. Mine now includes a USB cable as well as a FireWire one, which is good for the PC users I suppose. There is no 4-6pin FireWire adaptor or little plastic clip to protect the dock connector port any more though. And the lack of any basic case is near criminal. I guess these are some cost-cutting measures and I guess I shouldn't complain that this iPod was a lot cheaper than my brother's 3G 20GB model last year.

    First impressions
It always surprises me how small the iPod is when you see it. The 4G model looks neater than the older model in my opinion, with a clean easy-access wheel instead of the four button line arrangement. The screen also looks a lot nicer and sharper than shots shown on the Apple iPod website.

    Setting up
Since all my music is already on my Mac, filling the iPod up was simple - just plug in using the FireWire cable and it all automatically syncs (after product registration). iSync was a breeze too - and I have never had to use this program until now. Once it was ready, I just had to eject the iPod and then plug in the headphones.

    Using the iPod
Well, I can say that I have never heard such a good sound out of any headphones ever, especially little in-ear types. All my music is encoded in 128kbps AAC and it sounds immaculate. I won't ever bother with Apple Lossless. So, the sound is brilliant and the controls are very easy too. The menus are easy to navigate, but it would be nice if the LCD display had a slightly better response time - scrolling menus causes a slight shimmering effect, but it's nothing really to worry about. Also, with a mass of artists and songs like I have got, it can become quite tiresome when you have to scroll your thumb through about 200 rotations to navigate huge lists.

I noticed that occassionally there are small pauses when you try to skip through lots of songs quickly, but I'll just put this down to technological limitations as it has to access the hard drive. It's not a problem. What is a bit annoying though is the slight pause between tracks which is not great on albums that are designed to flow continuously. The iTunes crossfade option is not available on the iPod, or I have yet to find it.

The extra options, such as calender and contacts, are useful, although you can only view all your data. Maybe, they could release a little mini keyboard add-on that would allow you to type your own notes. (I could see it now: "World's first novel written on an iPod"). I tried out the notes feature by converting my CV into a text file and placing it on there to view. It's good, other than the fact it seems to get chopped off (i.e. iPod can only view the first so many words of a file). The games are ok, but unlikely to rival my GameBoy Color. The Music Quiz is a nice little option though.

    Verdict
Overall, I'm very pleased with the iPod and can begin to see why it's so popular. Put simply, it works. It plays music very very well, and this is important because it's the main purpose of the device. It's easy to use and battery life is pretty good. I'm still on my first charge. I've had none of those problems I've heard about - no crashes and no interference or static noises. The best thing about the iPod is that is does exactly what it says it's supposed to do, and in a neat, stylish and small package. Nice.

I don't think apple cut Kanye's performance from the webcast just because of a few F-bombs. They cut it because it sucked. Not only in content, but in quality. I can't say I'm a huge hip-hop fan, but I do know a decent performance when I see it. That was more like bad karaoke. Even though I'm sure I wouldn't have liked his performance if it were his whole posse playing on a studio album, the setup they had didn't do him justice.
