I fail to see how your questions have any relevance to this effort but anyway, below are my thoughts.
How many members does IV have in total?
Around 30-40K
What % out of that total has not filed 485 yet?
Maybe around 5K-10K. No one knows for sure. Getting to know this number was the purpose of the survey!!But that doesnt mean we should not reach out to newer members who do not know about this initiative and get them to sign up as well.
Only if we know these two can we say that you need 5000 to go ahead with this plan.

You are looking at it from a very narrow perspective. Think about how much persuasion it will take for Congress or USCIS to stick their head out and even attempt to consider this proposal! No one is waiting to create an opportunity for us to file I-485. Even USCIS knows roughly from their own data that there are >50-70K folks waiting to file I-485. They just wont acknowledge it because they know the status quo works for them and they are following rules. If we go to them with 1000 letters, the impression will be that less than 2% folks are really desperate for this fix. So why should it even be considered.. especialy considering the climate in the Congress where several anti Congressmen/Congresswomen are waiting to shoot off a letter to the USCIS asking for clarification on why they are doing even very minor (much much smaller than this admin fix) favorable actions for EB immigrant applicants.

I assume he can use the AP after October 2008 for his travel--correct?

The moment you use your EAD to get a part time job even you still are working fultime job, your H status is suspended. You can still work with your employer who filed your GC not in H status, but with EAD.
In other words, you can only be in one status at any time. You cannot have H status and work on EAD at same time.
What happen to a person with H1B and then EAD. Main job he continues with original employer who file GC and take a partime like working in a store. What will be the interpretation and Can he do that?

An event in DC would be convinient for members who live or work in and around the DC area, and also because the concentration of working people in the city and vicinity is higher. People who work in the area can stop by after work and network over dinner.
Why don't we have this kind of events on week end? Many people will be able to attend and share their ideas.

My son 18 and a green card holder since december 2005 - entered the US legally in 1999 lives with me his father - mother in other country - no ties to other country - UK:
He has a sister here - and me and other family members:
He was involved with taking snow mobiles last december and charged with midemeanors reduced from felonys - 2 felonys reduced on plea bargain:
He was sentanced to 3 years probation, and some days per week in jail which he served but is still on probation:
He picked up another charge when entering a friends house and was with another person who stole two items - a laptop and a wii - he was charged with burglary in 2nd class C felony - we have a attourney and hopefully can get it reduced to a misdemeanor:
He is currently in jail on $25,000 bail:
He appears in court on wednesday - we will ask for a bail reduction:
Obviously a violation of probation is filed and he has this new charge and the old charges he was put on probation for now hanging over him:
This kid was mixing with the wrong crowd and I need to get him away from that and will ask the judge to send him to boot camp where he will learn discipline, responsibility and grow up:
My questions are:
would he be depostable or would he face any involvement regarding immigration?
If his charges are misdemeanors including this felony reduced to a misdemeanor - meaning never having been convicted of a felony - does this constitute removal proceedings or involvement in possible deportation?

So, this would mean anyone stuck in name check should never receive FP--correct? I don't think that's the case...i know of a lot of people who get FP notices every 15 (or is it 18?) months or so and are stuck in name checks forever.
The two processes Name check & FP are parallel, not sequential.
I have myself not rcvd FP - July 2nd filer NSC-CSC-NSC transfer victim :-). My way of looking at things is that CSC transferred I-485 to NSC in late September. So my I-485 is queued after an August 17th filer. August 17th filers have rcvd their FPs recently (Bay Area, CA), so it should not be that far away. (BTW, I am not dying to get FP done, i just want to shorten my stay-alert-for-FP window and get it over with it)

Did you try to appeal the denial ??
Mine was denied for the same reasons (denied no rfe) and my lawyer appealed and it worked and I-140 approved.
Try to see if you can appeal. If I am not wrong you can appeal within 30 days of denial.

I want to know what are the chances of getting I-140 approve if we file a new petition and current I-140 appeal process is pending with USCIS. My I-140 was denied on education basis. In denial notice USCIS wrote that we did not prove that my 3+3 (Diploma + Engg degree from India) degree is not equivalent to B.S in Computer science from Labor certification.
Guys please share your experience with me since its important for me to get I-140 approve for future growth.

if u feel company is in bad shape, then file perm through another employer..stay with this company in the meantime till ur h1 expires and file an appeal for the 140..if appeal fails..u'll have an approved labor by then with the other employer and u can jump to his company..

QGA, Senators and their staff do have my heartfelt thanks. I wonder how we can convey our thanks to all of them in some orderly fashion.

I would suggest that you call the customer service number, since it is over 30 days, to find out what is going on.
I called customer service and was transfered to second level were I had to deal with a rude lady. I explained her my situation and her response was that, as its been 30 days it might have lost in mail and said, I have to apply for new AP with the fees again. i insisted to provide me with tracking number and asked for her manager for which she hanged out the phone on me. this how rude she was, it is such a shame on part of USCIS.
may be I will wait for more week and if it doesn't show up, will apply for new one. this is what you get for dealing with USCIS:mad:

I have filed I-140 in May 2007 and it is still pending. Is there anyone in this same situation??Please let me know to whom to contact.

NSC is processing 140's filed on or before Apr 6,2007 - Once the processing dates shows your filing date, on 31st day, you can ask your employer to open a service request. NSC respond to your SR within 45 days. Hope this helps.

My I-485 Receipt Notice does not have any PD on it either.
ALl I-485, repeat ALL do not have PD date on it. Only the I-140 approval notices have a date filled in.

Go for SBI Global link ... best exchange rate and cheapest. They take 4 business days though. I never had any problem sending to any bank in India through SBI Global link. You (or your parents) do nto need an SBI Account to use this
