You can use your h1b to work after returning to US on AP.
I believe that H1 is valid as long as you are with the same employer but once you switch employers thats a no deal.

I am a july 2nd filer, just called the call center, call got transferred to 2nd level rep. She looked in the system and it's not in their system yet. And she couldn't advise any thing when I asked her what is the next step.

Good job! However, like I and some other people on this forum have mentioned before, there is the need to de-emphasize our course as an Indian course. We know the majority of people in the GC process are of Indian or Chinese origin but we should recognize we need an all-inclusive approach to this struggle.
I clicked on the link and the headline read "Indian immigrants in US raise voices" While I understand that this might have come from the reporters who put togther the news, it is important that the members of IV at the forefront of this campaign and indeed all members on this forum, portray our course as as a high-skilled immigrant course and NOT an Indian or Chinese course.
Just something to think about!

On the other hand we cannot always control the spin that individual news organizations choose -- this CNN-IBN covers Indian issues and chose to characterize us that way.
There were Chinese members who attended our DC event, but this reporter didn't film them! Sucks.

One thing to remember is that reporters take snippets from hours of interviews, and then their editors edit the article down further.

U can renew ur H1 6 months prior to expiry. Travel in and out depends on Visa stamping and the dates. If u have valid H1, and do not have a valid visa, then u need to get one too.

I don't think its required to work 100% while you an EAD, most of us apply EAD for spouses along with us, but how many are going to start work?
EAD is like a free pass to "living". You have the choice to work, not to work, work for yourself, change employer when you wish etc.
However, if you are the primary applicant if at all possible stay with your H1B employer and let your dependent have this luxury.

Hi -
I have seen many scary posts where ppl are asked for W2, Pay stubs etc before filing I-485. What abt after filing I-485? .suppose if I end up being on bench then am I out of status? Pl let me know...It will be a long wait I am not sure it will be easy for us to predit the un-expected......

Its always safe to have paystubs for atlease 180 days after your 485 receipt date. If they call you for an interview at local office during adjudication, which may happen after anywhere from weeks, months, or years, there are chances that you may be asked to produce paystubs starting from month before interview date all the way back to your first H1 entry into US.
Please do not open new threads for these question for which there are several thread opened and are being discussed thru. Why don't you ask this question on one of those post?

Employer can revoke 140 anytime till 485 is approved.
If you are past 180 days after application of 485 then that would not make your 485 invalid. that is the crux of AC21 portability.
